NEW COMPANY PROVIDES HISTORICAL
PRODUCTON SERVICES FOR FEATURE
FILMS AND DOCUMENTARIES
RICHMOND, VA --- North Bridge Entertainment, a dynamic new production company headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, recently launched with partners John D. Bert and Kevin R. Hershberger. Both men are historians and historical film veterans with a long and varied list of projects behind them --big and small.
"We felt there was a real need for true authenticity, professionalism and honesty between the production house and those hired to be the experts. Since we are producers ourselves, we are able to better keep an eye on our client's budget as well as the over-all quality of the project. Too many times, the producers are told what they want to hear by other historical coordinators and consultants. We want to be in a position to convey realistic and honest information," stated partner John D. Bert. "We treat each project as our own, regardless of our level of involvement, and provide crew, experts and re-enactors who are passionate and committed to the craft."
Bert has worked behind-the-camera on a variety of projects, both historical and contemporary. He served as technical advisor on two major Civil War films, "Gods and Generals" and "Cold Mountain" before moving to television. Since then, he has been an assistant director and production coordinator on several projects for The History Channel and The Discovery Channel, then returned to feature film work as a historical military coordinator on HBO's "John Adams" mini-series.
Partner Kevin R. Hershberger has been making award-winning films since 1999 in Richmond, Virginia. His company, LionHeart FilmWorks produces historical features and documentaries with most of the work being live-action recreations of historical events from the past three centuries of American history. With this work, Hershberger's military and historical expertise has found him working recently on projects for The History Channel, PBS and HBO.
"We take recreating history seriously at North Bridge and are proud of our work," said Hershberger. "If your computer needs repair, you wouldn't trust it to someone you barely knew, but would hire professionals with the proven experience to get the job done with integrity and skill. Think of North Bridge Entertainment as the historical films 'geek squad,'" added Hershberger. "The filmmaking process is tremendously complex, and requires great creativity. We aim to make our services as transparent and work with as much ease as possible so that at the end of the day our client is thinking about the creative process, not worrying about all of the historical details," concluded Hershberger.
North Bridge Entertainment offers three principle levels of service; beginning with 'Historical Consultation' which includes review of scripts for historical accuracy as well as budget review, ensuring the client is betting the most bang for the buck. 'Historical Recreation' is a service that offers production as many or as few authentically costumed background and onset coordinators as needed. Finally, 'Historical Production' provides each project with the background re-enactors and professional production crew needed to complete the project in the best manner possible. With all levels of service, North Bridge's first goal is to accommodate clients’ production needs and schedules, while also easily providing the historical authenticity and honesty.
